Who will be creating the video content, and providing the training?

Andrew King began his video production journey in 2005 after enrolling in the film and media program at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Since graduating in 2010, Andrew has had many roles in the industry including as a director, producer, and editor. As your video producer / trainer I will:

  • Take a thorough approach to creating your videos, and take the time to understand what it is that you’re trying to communicate

  • Approach our projects with an unmatched work ethic, and attention to detail

  • Be available to communicate with you 365 days per year (yes, including holidays)

  • Provide unlimited training support, and revisions to videos

  • Solve problems. I am a creative problem solver, and when we create videos together, there is no problem that we won’t be able to solve to get the videos ready to be shared!

  • Always find the answer. If you ask me a question that I don’t know the answer to, I will take the time to find out the answer instead of saying “I don’t know.”

How do we actually create the videos remotely?

  • Option 1: Zoom

    • We will get on a monthly recorded zoom call to capture all of the content of you or somebody on your team speaking on camera

    • A pre-written script won’t be required for this option because I can ask you questions and help you deliver your content based on a point form outline. Think of it like being interviewed for a video in person, but we’re using zoom.

    • If you would like higher quality footage than zoom, you can set up a higher quality camera next to your webcam and send me the file after the interview, but zoom is acceptable quality for regular online content

    • We will record multiple videos worth of content in one session, if your plan includes multiple videos per month

    • Once I download the video file from Zoom, I start editing

    • I send Vimeo review page links. You will be able to easily make notes on the rough cuts of the video, and I provide unlimited revisions (this is extremely user friendly)

    • We stick to the same schedule every month, and crush these videos!

  • Option 2: Self-Recorded Videos

    • We will create a shared google drive folder with outlines for each of the videos and scripts, if you would like to read from a script

    • You will set up your phone with a phone tripod from Amazon that I will recommend

    • There is an easy to use teleprompter app that will allow you to read from the screen on your phone while the phone records you speaking. (Extremely user friendly and convenient)

    • You will send me the footage using a dropbox link that I provide (no login required on your end)

    • Once I have the files, I start editing

    • I send Vimeo review page links. You will be able to easily make notes on the rough cuts of the video, and I provide unlimited revisions

    • We stick to the same schedule every month, and crush these videos!

    • Note: We can try both options over the course of 12 months to determine which works best for you. The price will not change

The Advantage: Speed of Production, Pricing, Convenience

The value of a camera does not dictate the value of a message, and the 4K selfie cameras that smartphones have in 2021 actually look pretty great.

When organizations hire video production companies it is fairly standard to pay $7,000 per video on the lower end for a one or two person crew. Once the project is completed you may end up with 3 video files and have paid $20,000. This production process is extremely expensive and slow. It may still be valuable to do one high budget high production value video per year for your company, but that does not eliminate the need to connect with your audience consistently with faster, more affordable video.

The two styles of video content can and should co-exist. One yearly high budget production, and one weekly lower budget remote production to stay connected to your audience on social media, and via your newsletter. I still have a few questions to see if this is a good fit. How do I get in touch?

  • Will this be a lot of work for me?

    If you are interested in creating consistent video content, using this service will bring the amount of work that you have to do down to an absolute bare minimum. You will either read from a teleprompter on your phone once per month, or get on one zoom call per month. You can even share “spokesperson duties” in your organization if you have multiple people. If that still sounds like too much work, then having video content of any kind unfortunately is unrealistic for you, because this is as easy as it gets!

  • What if i'm camera shy, or I worry about not looking good on camera?

    Think of recording your content like explaining what you do over coffee. Using video, we are actually more in control of our image and appearance than chatting with people in real life. There is no reason to be afraid of the camera. Technology is here to help us refine, and spread our messages. The great thing is that we can do this completely on our own terms. I am here to make you look good! This is one of the main inquiries that I get, but I think that you are already a great spokesperson for yourself and your organization! If you try the zoom option for recording content, I will have a casual conversation with you to get you talking about your organization as if we’re chatting over coffee. Let’s show some confidence in ourselves and get our messages out there!

  • What if I can't come up with enough ideas for videos?

    If you choose the weekly video option, I can see how that may feel daunting. Just like any project in life, if we break it down into smaller pieces, suddenly it becomes very manageable. At the beginning of the project, I will brainstorm with you and your team to come up with the topics for the videos, and create a shared google drive folder with documents breaking down the list. The topics may evolve and change over time, but we will have something to work from. If we’re doing 52 videos, we can break it up into 5 major topics, and do 10 videos on each topic, or come up with 10 major topics and do 5 videos on each. There are a number of ways to do this to immediately make the project more than manageable, and dare I say, fun?!
